A fresh dig got underway last week at the Monaghan bog for the remains of the teenager, who was abducted, murdered and secretly buried by the IRA almost 50 years ago. It's the seventh time Bragan bog's been searched for Columba McVeigh.
This search was planned for Spring this year. However, due to environmental issues, which the team worked closely with National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) to resolve.
The ICLVR was unable to proceed until now and a review of the entire area previously search revealed a section that had not been searched, hence the current search that's now underway. Columba McVeigh's sister Dympna says she hopes the current search will uncover his remains.
