A Co Monaghan councillor has welcomed a funding allocation that will see the former Lennard Arms Hotel transformed into a tourist attraction. According to Cllr Seamus Coyle, a funding allocation of over €15 million has been approved by government for projects in Co Monaghan. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Coyle said he was particularly delighted for the people of Clones and the wider Ballybay/Clones MD area. He also praised Minister for Social Protection and Rural Affairs Dara Calleary and Senator Robbie Gallagher for the role they played in securing this funding stream.
The former Lennard Arms Hotel in Clones will receive a funding injection of over €4.9 million euro and will bring with it another new business hub on the derelict site on Fermanagh Street. This new addition along with a planned new museum and visitor centre will improve the tourist offering in Clones, according to Cllr Coyle:
