Councillor TP O'Reilly has praised members of An Garda Siochana when it comes to their quick response when dealing with an incident in Virginia yesterday.
Five people under the age of 18 were arrested following a major public order incident in Virginia.
The incident broke out around 7pm last night at a number of locations in the town.
Cllr TP O'Reilly commended the Gardai when it comes to its quick response in apprehending the culprits, adding that this is not the kind of behaviour that we want to see in our town.
Cllr O'Reilly said we've a "great amenity" down at our lake in Virginia which is the main attraction for visitors but unfortunately the lake is attracting the "wrong kind of people" some of the time and that's very frustrating.
The Fine Gael representative said something needs to be done to try and regulate what's happening at the lake.
He said people can come and there's no regulation on drink or behaviour and Gardai can only do so much.
