An initiative is underway to strengthen community resilience across Co Monaghan.
Monaghan County Council recently held a demonstration at Magheracloone Community Centre showcasing a new generator changeover switch — helping ensure the centre can stay powered during outages.
This initiative will help Community Support Centres remain operational and further strengthen the ability of communities to support one another during emergencies.
At present 24 centres have been identified across the county with 14 of them already equipped for emergency generator use.
The local authority paid tribute to the Magheracloone Community Centre Committee, who shared how vital the centre was during Storm Éowyn.
Like alot of hubs at the time, they provided meals, showers, charging points, and a welcoming place for the community
Monaghan County Council said this work is all about making sure communities are supported when they need it most.
