The lead investigator with the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains, Eamonn Henry is confident that the remains of Columba McVeigh are in Bragan Bog.
A fresh dig got underway this morning at the Monaghan bog for the remains of the teenager, who was abducted, murdered and secretly buried by the IRA almost 50 years ago.
It's the seventh time Bragan bog's been searched for Columba McVeigh.
The 19-year-old from Donaghmore was abducted by the Provisional IRA, killed and secretly buried in October 1975.
He is one of the "Disappeared" victims of the Troubles whose bodies have still to be found.
The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains (ICLVR) has previously conducted six unsuccessful searches at Bragan Bog since 1999.
This search was planned for Spring this year. However, due to environmental issues, which the team worked closely with National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) to resolve.
The ICLVR was unable to proceed until now and a review of the entire area previously search revealed a section that had not been searched, hence the current search thats now underway.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Eamonn Henry says the commission is very confident that the remains of the teenager is in the Co Monaghan bog.
Meanwhile, Columba's brother Oliver McVeigh says the family have one goal and that is to give Columba a proper burial alongside his parents.
