Ireland is a long way behind Denmark, Norway and Sweden in terms of reducing road deaths, according to MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú.
She was speaking after engaging with the European Transport Safety Council to explore what strategies other EU Countries are employing to help reduce road deaths in their jurisdictions.
She says one body in Ireland needs to be given responsibility for road death figures.
