Knife-wielding man charged over incident in Co. Louth

Gardai say there was a man is in his 30s, in an open carpark with a knife.

A man has been charged in relation to a public order incident involving a knife in County Louth last night.
The man in his 30s was arrested after Gardai discharged a ‘less-lethal’ weapon to detain him.
The Gardai responded to calls of a public order incident in the Ard Easmuinn area of Dundalk around half past nine last night.
Gardai say there was a man is in his 30s, in an open carpark with a knife.

They say he failed to comply with orders to drop the knife and they discharged what’s being described as a ‘less-lethal’ weapon to disarm the man and arrest him.
The man was taken to Dundalk Garda Station.
He’s been charged in relation to the incident and will appear before Drogheda District Court later this morning.
Gardai say they’ve altered Fisoru to the use of a less-lethal wepon.
