Monaghan has retained its high ranking for cleanliness in the most recent IBAL survey.
In its latest report, Irish Business Against Litter ranked Monaghan fifth out of 40 towns and cities across Ireland.
Cavan was also labelled clean, placing nineteenth on the list, and the report found no heavily littered sites in the area.
The An Taisce report for Cavan stated that "While the town may not have had as many top-ranking sites as in previous IBAL surveys, the remainder either just missed the top grade or were moderately littered."
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show IBAL spokesperson Conor Horgan chatted about Monaghan's ranking and potential.
"Monaghan is inside the top ten. It was third last time out. Now it's in fifth and that's a much better result than just some years ago. Eight of the ten sites were top ranking. That's a tremendous statement in itself."
