A local Choose Life spokesperson has been speaking about a prayer protest held in Cavan Town recently.
Liam de Paor said he demonstration outside HSE offices was aimed at opposing abortion services, saying the funding should go towards stronger supports for women facing crisis pregnancies.
He also criticised current abortion legislation and opposed proposals to remove the mandatory three-day waiting period before terminations, with Pro Life groups claiming that over 10,000 women did not return for a second abortion consultation with a GP after the three day wait period.
Arguments have been put forward by some political parties that the three day waiting period lacks a scientific basis and it treats women as being incapable of making their own medical decisions.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Liam outlined his concerns for getting rid of the three-day waiting period.
