A local Councillor has called for greater support for elderly drivers struggling with the theory test system.
TP O'Reilly says many older people are finding themselves unable to get insured because they no longer hold a valid licence.
He says insurance companies are now seeking driver numbers, leaving some elderly drivers caught out despite driving safely for years.
Cllr O'Reilly said many older people know the rules of the road but struggle with the computer-based theory test process.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he said elderly drivers fear losing their independence and simply want to continue making local journeys to shops, church and other essential services.
