A local election hopeful had an unfortunate encounter while out canvassing.
Monaghan election candidate, Denis O'Higgins was bitten by a dog while knocking door to door.
In a letter sent to the station, the candidate said that he "took it on the chin," and that his "enthusiasm to carry on won out on the day."
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Independent candidate, Denis O'Higgins explained that the greetings he has received during his campaign trail so far have been mixed:
