A Co Monaghan man has been announced as the president of the Irish Hereford Breed Society.
Nigel Heatrick from Glaslough Herefords in Co. Monaghan is currently serving his first term on the Irish Hereford Breed Society Council.
Nigel’s passion for the Hereford breed was installed in him from a young age. The Glaslough Hereford Herd was established by his father, Sam Heatrick in 1951.
The herd was built up from the original purchase of one cow and calf, and has been developed mostly through the purchase and use of stock bulls ever since.
Nigel’s father Sam showed Herefords at both the RUAS and the RDS, before Nigel got involved and ever since Nigel has had a lifelong involvement with showing cattle, supporting the Hereford breed and attending all of the society sales.
Nigel has also served on the board of Irish Hereford Prime for a number of years.
