The Cathaoirleach of the Ballybay-Clones Municipal District, Sinéad Flynn, has paid tribute to the Civil Defence and the Monaghan Fire Service for their outstanding service and dedication to local communities throughout 2025.
Cllr Flynn said both services play a vital role in keeping people safe, often working in challenging and demanding situations.
She praised the commitment, professionalism, and selflessness shown by volunteers and retained firefighters who consistently go above and beyond to support communities across the county.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the Cathaoirleach thanked members of the Civil Defence for their invaluable work during emergencies, severe weather events, and community activities, and also acknowledged the Fire Service for their rapid response, bravery, and lifesaving work.
Cllr Flynn said she hopes 2026 will be a positive year for everyone and expressed her sincere appreciation for the continued dedication of both services.
She added that the people of Co Monaghan are deeply grateful for the essential role the Civil Defence and Fire Service play in protecting and safeguarding our communities.
