A Cavan senator has criticised the Government's handling of the housing crisis, emphasising the issue in Cavan.
Pauline Tully noted that the reason for the ongoing housing crisis is the economy crash in 2008 and the lack of foresight shown following that.
She noted that more than 17,000 people, including 5,000 children are currently living in emergency accommodation, these figures do not include those who do not access emergency accommodation, including those who sleep on our streets, in their parents' box rooms and on their friends' sofas.
She added that there are also the people who are emigrating because they cannot afford to live here.
Speaking in the Seanad she outlined the current issue with evictions, particularly in Cavan.
Senator Tully outlined the situation in Cavan right now.
