A local Senator has raised questions surrounding the newly announced autism protocol.
Senator Pauline Tully spoke in the Dail earlier this week following the HSE launch of a new autism assessment process for children and adults.
She noted that she welcomes anything that will address the significant backlog in assessments of need for children, which is approach 22,000.

Senator Tully also added that there is currently no method for adults to be assessed so she welcomes that.
Speaking in the Seanad she noted she has come across conflicting evidence.
