A local Sinn Féin TD has urged for clarity on how convicted criminals can move freely within the Common Travel Area.
The party's Spokesperson for Justice, Matt Carthy, is calling for an investigation into how convicted rapist Randi Gladstone, formerly from Guyana, arrived in Ireland.
Gladstone, who has 19 previous convictions from the UK, was sentenced to 10 years for raping, sexually assaulting, and falsely imprisoning a young woman just days after arriving in Ireland.
Carthy praised the bravery of the victim, who was 18 at the time.
He questioned if the Minister for Justice is looking into better information-sharing about criminals with convictions from third countries travelling within the Common Travel Area.
