A local Sinn Fein TD has said he is not aspiring to be the party leader.
Matt Carthy was speaking following the party's Ard Fheis which took place over the weekend.
Deputy Carthy is Sinn Fein's spokesperson on justice, and said the party operates a collective leadership model and that members look at building the party and the country rather than their own .
The question was put to him on the Joe Finnegan this morning, following speculation that some within the party believe Mary Lou McDonald is not the person to lead Sinn Fein in the next round of elections.
Deputy Carthy said he is not one of those speculating.
