A local vet has been giving advice for keeping the pets safe in the summer.
Gary Noone from Cavan vet clinic in Corlurgan Business Park in Cavan is warning that dogs can be affected by heat stroke.
He was speaking as the recent spell of good weather causes concerns for a lot of pet owners.
Gary said things like a hot pavement, leaving your pet in a hot vehicle and underlying respiratory issues can all be dangerous in the hot weather.
Speaking to Northern Sound he outlined what to do if you suspect heatstroke in a dog throughout the summer months.
