Cavan County Council is warning the public, particularly dog owners to be cautious around lakes.
This is because of algal blooms which may appear on lakes at this time of year.
This is due to prevailing conditions and nutrient enrichment.

The advice from the local authority is to avoid any contact with algal blooms as they may cause skin irritation or be toxic if ingested.
Dogs are particularly sensitive to these blooms.
