A man has appeared before Trim District Court in connection to an investigation into the assault of a Gardai in County Monaghan.
24-year-old Vincentas Miksta of Riverview, Ballinode, Co Monaghan appeared before a special sitting of Trim District Court today in relation to five charges that includes the alleged assault of a Garda last Thursday in Tullycorbet.
The alleged incident occurred outside the Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Tullycorbet.

The 24-year-old appeared on alleged charges that include a section 3 assault causing serious harm, misuse of drugs, sale and supply of cocaine along with attempting to escape from Gardai and the obstruction of a Garda.

Garda Evelyn Daire from Monaghan Drugs gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
She told Judge Raymond Finnegan that the state were objecting to bail on the seriousness of the offences and the level of evidence that Gardai have in relation to this investigation.

Defence barrister Dimitry Grinberg said his compliant with Gardai and that was confirmed to be the case by Garda Daire.

Judge Finnegan objected bail and Mr Miksta was remanded to custody to appear on Monday the 20th of April at Monaghan District Court via video link.
