A 54-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Michael Gaine in county Kerry.
Michael Kelley, of Chapel Street, Tralee appeared at Tralee District Court this afternoon.
Detective Sgt Mark O’Sullivan told the court Michael Kelley made no reply to the charge of murdering Michael Gaine on a date unknown between the 20th and 21st of March 2025.
Judge David Waters noted a bail application cannot be made at district court level on a murder charge and remanded Michael Kelley, who did not speak during the brief hearing, in custody to appear before the court again via video link on the 4th of March
56-year-old Michael Gaine was last seen buying mobile phone credit in a shop in Kenmare on the 20th of March last year.
Parts of his body were discovered in a slurry spreader two months later, with more remains found in a slurry tank on his farm.
