A local councillor has hit out at the number of roads approved for funding under the Local Improvement Scheme across Co Monaghan.
Under the current funding allocation, only seven lanes are scheduled for completion.
Fine Gael councillor Richard Truell raised his concerns that the local authority was only granted money for seven lanes this year even though there is a list of around 150 roads across the county that need to be upgraded.
Cllr Truell said the biggest issue he’s dealing with right now is roads and how to improve them.
The local representative believes more investment into roads in the Ballybay-Clones MD and also in the Castleblayney-Carrickmacross MD is needed more so than in the likes of North Monaghan.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Truell said we need proper investment instead of remedial works which don’t last and is just a temporary solution to a permanent problem.
