Monaghan County Council is now providing the local community with a further opportunity to have their say on the proposed Quiet Road pilot.
This is through the statutory Section 38 public consultation process following previous public information events and the feedback received.
The proposal aims to create a safer, shared road space for everyone including walkers, cyclists and local traffic, if introduced, the Quiet Road would include a 30km/h speed limit along the route, gateway signage to clearly mark entry and exit points.
It would also include new road markings to highlight a shared space, traffic calming features at areas of reduced visibility, flashing speed signs to encourage slower driving.
According to Cllr Niamh McCooey, the goal is to make the road safer and more enjoyable to use, while protecting its rural character.
Consultation closes on 3 June 2026 at 5:00pm
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr McCooey said local feedback will help shape what happens next:
