Monaghan Fire and Rescue Service marked Amber Thursday yesterday ahead of the June bank holiday weekend.
The national safety awareness initiative focuses on the dangers linked to fire, road and water-based activities during the summer months.
The emergency services are reminding the public to take extra care as more people travel, enjoy outdoor gatherings and use waterways over this time.
They say the increased activity can often lead to a rise in accidents and emergency callouts.
People are being encouraged to act responsibly and make safety a priority when driving, swimming or using barbecues and other flammable materials.
