A Monaghan school has won a national award for its work in farm safety education.

St. Daigh's National School in Inniskeen was named Best School in the 2026 AgriKids Farm Safety Ambassador Awards for its campaign, "The Farmyard is Not a Schoolyard."

The school was praised for helping children learn about staying safe on farms through practical activities and support from the local community.

The awards recognise schools across Ireland that are helping to raise awareness of farm safety among young people.

Speaking to Northern Sound teacher Niamh Monahan said it wouldn't have been possible without the children's enthusiasm.
