"If volunteers went on strike for a week the country would fall apart."
That's according to Sinead Keenan of Monaghan Volunteer Centre.
Sinead believes that volunteering is a force for good, and central to creating and sustaining an inclusive society.
This week marked National Volunteer Week with events taking place right across the Northern Sound region.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Sinead has encouraged people to contact the service and get involved no matter how big or small you would like your role to be.
She said the service provides various opportunities across Co Monaghan that suits individual skills and qualities for people of all ages:
