A Co Monaghan councillor has highlighted the need for further funding from the HSE towards much needed extension works at the Errigal Truagh Special Needs Centre.
Last month, Cllr Bronagh McAree asked the local authority to write to the HSE and the relevant Government ministers asking for them to expedite funding for extension works at Errigal Truagh.
Monaghan County Council did receive a response from the HSE confirming an additional funding of €290,000 for respite services at Errigal Truagh.
This investment is in Saturday respite services, a Saturday club and a summer camp which Cllr McAree says will make a "real difference" for people with additional needs and their families.
Cllr McAree said the project is "shovel ready" with a site and plans already in place with staff now waiting for funding to be allocated by the HSE.
