Number of planning permissions granted in Cavan / Monaghan steady

The number of planning permissions granted across Cavan and Monaghan remained steady between 2023 and 2024.

Last year, 261 applications were granted, up slightly from 259 in 2023.  Of those 261, Monaghan had the highest proportion of granted application at 151 whilst Cavan had 110.

Just 14 apartments were granted planning permission last year across both counties, 10 in Cavan and 4 in Monaghan. 100 houses were given planning permission last year in Cavan and 147 in Monaghan. Nationally, the number of granted dwellings reduced by 21%, compared to a 20.6% increase in 2023.
