A local man says the Carrickmacross dog park idea came from the issue of dog fouling.
Five years ago the local Tidy Towns decided action needed to be taken, as dog fouling had become an issue for cleanliness and safety in the area.
The idea for a dog park came about after seeing the success of a similar park in Banbridge and the local municipal district was very supportive of the solution.
The Municipal District offered an area to base the park and two areas were built, one for big dogs and one for smaller dogs.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, he outlined what a dog park entails.
