Over €8.5 million worth of carers' payments are due to be issued across the Northern Sound region this week.
The Carer's Support Grant is available to all carers providing full-time care to an older person or a person with a disability, regardless of their means or social insurance contributions.
The payments will be received by 2,491 carers in Co. Cavan and 1,792 in Co. Monaghan.
Over 147,000 people across the country will receive the 2,000 euro grant in their post office or bank account on Thursday.
Around 18,000 carers are providing care for two or more people, and they'll receive a grant for each person they care for.
