A proposed solar farm near Ballyconnell has been given planning permission.
Mannok Cement Ltd applied to Cavan County Council for works on their lands in Ballyconnell.
The proposed solar energy development comprises of ground mounted solar photovoltaic panels, mounted on steel support structures, underground cabling, temporary construction compound, erection of 3 Transformer stations.
Also included is the laying of a permeable gravel access tracks, widening of existing field entrances, erection of CCTV poles and cameras, new entrance gates and perimeter fencing, landscaping and biodiversity measures.
Planning Permission was sought for a 40-year operation of the solar farm, following which the site will be decommissioned, all development removed and the Site restored to agricultural lands.
Permission was granted with 23 conditions attached.
