The Department of Agriculture and the Northern Ireland fire and police services are urging the public to be vigilant as they continue to tackle a large wildfire along the Co. Monaghan border.
The authorities are asking people to be avoid lighting fires of any kind and operating machinery or other agricultural activity that may present a risk of fire in dry vegetation.
They say the current fire near Clogher is another 'stark reminder' on how quickly fires can spread and how extensive environmental damage can be.
The fire in counties Tyrone and Monaghan has torn through approximately a third of a precious protect site, which includes a special area of conservation for the endangered Hen Harrier, as well as important blanket bog habitat.
The current conditions are set to last into the weekend, and the public is being urged to heed the elevated hazard warning issued and to report anyone involved in deliberate and malicious fires.
