A local councillor is calling on Monaghan County Council to address road safety concerns on the R181 at Lough Egish "once and for all."
The road starts on the border where Keady meets Castleblayney and continues to the Lough Egish Cross.
Cllr Gilliland says what is of "grave concern" is the stretch of road from Lough Egish Cross to the county boundary.
This particular road also services Lough Egish Food Park which has over 1,000 jobs directly employed there.
Cllr Gilliland recently met with two potential companies looking to relocate and expand their enterprise in the food park, however they were concerned about the road.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Gilliland said it's "not good enough" in this day and age.
He said issues like safety concerns will continues to arise unless something is done as well as the road not bring fit for purpose, and damage done to hauliers over the condition of the road causing expensive repair works to their trucks and trailers.
