A Co Monaghan councillor has expressed her concerns in relation to road safety on the R182 ThreemileHouse to Newbliss road.
Cllr Sinead Flynn raised the matter with Monaghan County Council regarding excessive speeding on the R182 from Threemilehouse towards Newbliss, particularly on the approach to Greenans Cross, following ongoing concerns raised by local residents.
The local representative called on Monaghan County Council to carry out a comprehensive road safety assessment and to consider measures to improve safety for everyone using this road.
In addition to this, Cllr Flynn says traffic calming measures, enhanced signage, improved road markings and traffic and speed surveys are also needed.
Cllr Flynn confirmed that the local authority has since agreed to carry out a site examination, complete a traffic and speed survey on this section of road and assess the results and determine the most appropriate road safety measures for the location.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Flynn said road safety is a priority and she will continue to follow this issue closely to ensure the necessary improvements are delivered.
