A fresh dig that got underway last month at Bragan Bog in Co Monaghan to search for the remains of Tyrone teenager Columba McVeigh is continuing.
The 19-year-old from Donaghmore was abducted by the Provisional IRA, killed and secretly buried in October 1975.
He is one of the "Disappeared" victims of the Troubles whose bodies have still to be found.
The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains (ICLVR) has previously conducted six unsuccessful searches at Bragan Bog since 1999. After the last search ended without a breakthrough in November 2023, a review was carried out by the ICLVR into parts of the bog that had and had not been searched.
They identified "a small piece of ground" that had not been searched previously according to ICLVR investigator Eamonn Henry. A spokesperson for the LCLVR confirmed that search is continuing. They went on to say "we are methodically working our way across the site".
The sister of one of the Disappeared, Columba McVeigh, has said she still has hope her brother will be found. Speaking at Bragan Bog last month, Ms Kerr appealed for information in relation to finding her beloved brother.
