Sister of Columba McVeigh 'heartbroken' as Monaghan search ends

The County Tyrone man was 19 years old when he was abducted.

'Heartbreaking' is how the result of the latest search for one of the so-called Disappeared is being described.

The search for the remains of Columba McVeigh on Bragan Bog in County Monaghan has ended without success.

His sister Dympna Kerr says she was informed yesterday that the search had ended. She said her reply to the lead investigator Eamonn Henry who called her was have you found him?.

The County Tyrone man was 19 years old when he was abducted, killed and secretly buried by the IRA over 50 years ago. Speaking to Northern Sound, Dympna says her family continue to be in limbo waiting on information to find Columba.

She says she can't understand why the people who know where he is just won't come forward. Dympna says all her family ever want is to give Columba a Christian burial.
