The family of missing woman from Jean Tighe hopes that Ireland taking over the presidency of the European Union will help in their quest for answers.
Next Monday marks six years since Co Cavan woman Jean Tighe disappeared from a holiday resort in Portugal.
Jean who was 37 years of age when she was last seen disappeared from Parede, a Portuguese holiday resort, on July 13, 2020.
The Munterconnaght native was only placed on the missing persons register in 2023.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Jean's sister Leona said Jean is much more than a missing person case, she's a sister, a daughter and someone who matters.
The Tighe family have not had any enjoyment with the Portuguese authorities since July 2025 and almost six years on they still don't know what happened to Jean.
As a result the family are asking for a comprehensive review to be taken of Jean's case.
With Ireland holding the presidency of the European Union, Leona hopes there will be increased opportunities for cooperation and dialogue between European government's and that Jean's case will be part of those conversations:
