Three people lost their lives on roads over the Bank Holiday weekend, bringing the number of road deaths this year to 72.
During the Garda roads policing operation, more than 140 motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Gardaí also detected over 3,100 speeding offences, while more than 340 drivers were caught using a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt.
Road users are being urged to continue taking care as journeys return to normal following the long weekend.
