Cavan -Monaghan TD Cathy Bennett has called for "full transparency" on the decision to give the World Bank €10 million more than they had requested from Ireland.
It was revealed this week that Paschal Donohoe gave 10 million euro extra to the World Bank in April last year, before he resigned as Finance Minister in November to take up a role at the World Bank.
A member of the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs, Deputy Bennett said there was a need for absolute clarity.
Deputy Bennett described decision as "incredibly unusual" from then Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe.
The local TD says it's important to know why this decision was made and also approved by the government.
Deputy Bennett told Northern Sound: "I expect the current Minister will be before the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs Committee in the coming weeks and will be demanding an explanation and full transparency.
"We also need to know when Paschal Donohoe became aware that there was an opening for a top job with the World Bank and when he became aware that he was being considered for the €600,000 per year position.
"This is absolutely necessary, as it would be wholly inappropriate the then Minister to have made such a recommendation without informing his government colleagues of any conflict of interest."
