Representatives from Sinn Féin in Co Monaghan have met with the protestors in Monaghan Town this afternoon.
Cllr Bronagh McAree indicated that she, along with other elected officials from the party, visited the protestors on the Coolshannagh roundabout.
She said that protestors are adamant that the protest will continue, and that it is a respectful and "dignified" protest.
Cllr McAree explained how access is being allowed for the emergency services.
Speaking to Northern Sound this afternoon, she described the scene at the protest: "So far the protests have been very respectful of the public and it's very dignified. In the time we were there someone came along who had a hospital appointment and they were allowed through, another lady was a carer and was allowed through. All emergency services are also being facilitated.
"Protesters are working with the public and trying to remain respectful. Protesters have been working with An Garda Síochána and everything at the minute is very peaceful and respectful of the public.
"As it stands from speaking with protesters, this will continue and they are adamant that they will be there for the long haul and for as long that is needed."
