A Cavan native has been named runner-up in a prestigious astrophotography competition.
The 'Reach for the Stars' competition is run by the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and aims to find the best astro-photographs taken in Ireland over the past year.
Aaron Kelly, from Ballyjamesduff, and Dara Callinan, from Virginia, were both shortlisted in the 'Out of this World' category.

Aaron Kelly's entry, titled "The Heart Nebula", picked up the runner-up prize.
He’s been speaking to Aaron McElroy and firstly spoke about his pride at being named among the winners.
