Listen Back: Carthy 'concerned' over vape shops. Cavan- Monaghan TD Matt Carthy has written to the Revenue Commission. The letter shares "the concerns of many" that there are too many vape shops and mobile phone repair shops.
The Sinn Féin TD believes that there are questions about the viability; with so many similar businesses opening up, within such a short space of time.
Moreover, Deputy Carthy welcomed confirmation from Revenue; that the mobile phone repair and vape sectors are a feature of its shadow economy compliance activity in 2024 and 2025.
Furthermore, Revenue also confirmed that there have been targeted visits to such outlets; and on-site interviews with individuals in these premises.
The TD told Northern Sound that this is the correct approach, and that he encourages such compliance operations to continue and increase in the current period.
Deputy Carthy said that all of those who are trying to run shops and business in the community must be playing on a level playing field.
