Listen Back: Cavan Cllr highlights use of Irish language. Sinn Féin councillor for Cavan, Stiofán Conaty said there is a lot that County Councils can do to promote the Irish language.
Since becoming a member of the council, Cllr. Conaty has been an outspoken advocate for the Irish language.
He believes that it is important that local authorities take on their position of responsibility and leadership, when it comes to promoting the language.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr. Conaty said that Co. Cavan may be lagging behind other counties, but he feels the language is “coming on” throughout the county.
He said he is encouraged to see improvement in promoting the Irish language in the county.
