Temperatures peaked at almost 30 degrees in Cavan, as Ireland saw the hottest summer in over four decades.
Climate change expert at Met Eireann Tom Murphy said their weather station in Ballyhaise recorded 29.5 degrees at the end of June.
It was a record-breaking year across the country, with Shannon Airport recording the highest temperature ever in Ireland at 32 degrees, and Cork Airport having the driest summer on record.

However Tom Murphy said this week won't be close to those records:
