Listen Back: Local business women offer 'hope' to abuse survivors. As part of the "Hopefull Handbags Global" autumn appeal; locals are asked to fill handbags with real essentials and hope; for survivors of domestic abuse.
Members of the Cavan and Monaghan Mums in Business Community took part in this appeal; and as a result have organised a coffee morning. Indeed, the coffee morning will take place tomorrow; from 11am to 1pm; in the library at the Monaghan Peace Campus.
Speaking to Northern Sound, local business woman Zandra Montgomery says this campaign addresses a critical gap in support services.
Zandra says many women who flee domestic abuse often leave with nothing, no identification, no money and no basic necessities.
According to the Newbliss woman, the handbags provide immediate and practical support while opening conversations about longer-term assistance and giving hope for a brighter future.
