Martin Maguire wants to make as many people as possible aware of the signs and the importance of getting diagnosed early.
The Monaghan man has been involved with cancer support group Crocus for a number of years and knows first hand the importance of awareness through education.
He says he is delighted to have a motion passed at the Sinn Fein Ard Dheis in relation to a cancer awareness campain.
He says this is crucial and we need to educate our children so as a society we are better at detecting cancer. Martin saying he has beaten cancer three times and says knowing potential signs is so important. Meanwhile, Cllr Sinead Flynn says she wants to see a roll out across the island of Ireland in schools.
