Listen Back: Rockcorry NS helps shoebox appeal reach 3 million. School children from Rockcorry National School have helped Team Hope cross the 3million barrier in this year's Christmas shoebox appeal.
The local school has created shoebox gifts for the last 15 years and understands the joy that they bring to children who live in some of the most impoverished parts of the world.
Since 2010, the Team Hope charity has delivered over 2.8million shoebox gifts from Ireland to countries across Africa and Eastern Europe and will ship off its three-millionth in the coming weeks.
Locals in Monaghan have generated 9,940 Christmas shoebox gifts for children affected by poverty over the last three years.
Elsewhere, locals in Cavan have generated 12,868.
Rockcorry NS Principal, Julie Coalter, said the school is "thrilled" to have contributed to Team Hope's aim to surpass three million shoeboxes.
She described it as the ultimate gesture of goodwill, dignity and respect in the season of giving.
Jodie Curran has been speaking in detail with the local principal about how Rockcorry NS helps shoebox appeal.
