A seriously ill Cavan resident is challenging his possible eviction today because he says he'd be left homeless. Gerry Mulligan has lived in the Cootehill Road in Cavan town for the past four years, under Cavan County Council's rental accommodation scheme. But he says he was told by his landlord in August that he must leave the home because he intends to sell it.
He has epilepsy and TB and has just been temporarily discharged from Cavan General Hospital after a major health episode on Sunday night. Though Gerry says he owes the council €3,000 in unpaid rent, he claims this is only because of issues with his social welfare claim.
