Cootehill native Ruairí McKiernan established the youth media organisation group Spun Out.ie in 2006 and it now reaches over one million people every year.
In 2012 he was appointed to the Council of State by President Michael D Higgins and is well known for his youth, community and campaign work.
The accolades don’t stop there – he’s been named by the global social entrepreneurs organistaion Ashoka as one of the top ten changemakers in Ireland – joining justice campaigners such as Fr Peter McVerry and Senator Lynne Ruane.
