Earlier this month, the ISPCA rescued eighty-six dogs, including 23 puppies, at the home of an unlicensed breeder in Roscommon.
Shih Tzu’s, cocker spaniels and pugs were among the animals found living in very poor conditions.
However, the good news is that lots of people have expressed an interest in re-homing the dogs, and that process is underway.
Well, we here on the Joe Finnegan Show were having a chat and wondered how re-homing a dog you knew little or nothing about would cope in a family home..
So, out we went to meet Maple, an 8 year old beagle that was adopted by a family living in the region last March.
She was one of around 600 dogs and cats rescued by the ISPCA and Dogs Trust from a research facility that was closing down in County Mayo in 2016.
Many of the animals were born in captivity for the purpose of scientific research.
Show producer Úna Molloy went to Maple’s home and filed this report for the Joe Finnegan Show
